More About the East Park Project:

Work on this multi-year, $78 million project began in early 2016 and includes construction of two new water tanks with a total capacity of 60 million gallons, general facility upgrades and additional site improvements. Work is expected to last about three and a half years.

The East Park Reservoir is an important drinking water storage facility for the City of Philadelphia, providing water storage for approximately 50 percent of Philadelphia Water customers. The site can also offer reliable water service during emergency conditions. You can see a Jan. 2014 presentation on the project here and read a two-page fact sheet on the project here

In addition to the drinking water upgrades, work at the site will lead to increased recreation opportunities in Strawberry Mansion thanks to a partnership with Parks and Recreation, the National Audubon Society and Outward Bound. Read about the new Discovery Center planned for the site here.
